Never mind the bed, I'll sleep on the desk

(at least that's what Romi says)

New car is spiff. It's totally, as [info]katatonic_state said it would be, my "big girl car." It's so different from the Saturn. And I'm lovin' the sunroof right now. Love love love. And the little switch blade key fob is damned cool, too. Drives nice, too. Yay car!

I think it's pretty funny that people were congratulating me about the CBA being done. Because y'all know I had so much to do with it. I just flew my ass down to New York and said "Hey you dorks - get it done already." Anyway - now the real fun begins, what with the huge number of free agents, the need to cut (or, for four teams, create) salary. And the big "Where in the (hockey) world will Sidney Crosby be?" game. Not to mention the rule changes.

Find it amusing that at one point I knew someone who is now up for a best actor emmy. Of course, Zach Braff was a cute little, what, 10 year old? But still. And pleased to see Jeremy Piven got an emmy nom for best supporting actor in Entourage. Yeah. I actually watch it and I like it. And I think Jeremy Piven is awesome.

Watched Troy and Timeline with the husband this weekend. Honest - the only good thing about Troy was Brad Pitt (ok - so I have a little thing for him as of late. Blame Chuck Kobasew). And I'm not talking about the acting. The movie was awful and nigh unwatchable. Timeline was better. I'd read the book but forgot most of it.

Tonight I watched Stuck on You. I've never been much of a Farrelly Bros. fan. But I like Matt Damon well enough, and it looked cute (and I did like Outside Providence). And I actually really enjoyed it. Bunch of Boston hockey players (didn't quite catch Cam there, but caught LB and Bob Sweeney). And Tom Brady is a terrible actor - stick to football, dude! (Lawyer Milloy wasn't as bad with his line). Loved that a bar fight only starts not because the dude is picking on them, but because he calls into recollection Billy Buckner. Heh.

Looks like GBS is playing Toad's on Fri. Aug. 12. Despite just having a conversation with [info]fiddle_grrl that I wouldn't go out of my way to see them in towns other than my own, as I don't want to deal with some of the fans, I did drop an email to Monique to see what she was up to. I'd love to go to a show again with her. And then drop in on the family the next day.

And for a certain person who may or may not read my LJ any longer: I want to let you know that Brad & Lindsay are getting married on Saturday. I thought you'd like to know.

1. You make some macaroni and cheese, or, say, a lipton rice side thingy, or something for your own personal consumption in a medium saucepan. Upon completion, do you transfer the food to a bowl or do you just eat from the saucepan?

Bowl. I hate eating out of the pan because I have good pans and don't want to scrape 'em up.

2. While in the shower, would you say you spend most of your time facing the water, with your back to the water, or about half and half?

Mostly away. (Stop thinking about me in the shower...)

3. When you come home from work, do you enter and immediately lock the door, or do you leave your door unlocked while you are at home for the most part? What about your car, do you ever leave it unlocked or do you lock it no matter where you are and how long you're going to be away from it?

Well, kind of depends. In the summer (like now) I leave the door open (stupid, but I live in the Orchard, so I take the chance). But in the colder months, I shut the door, and the lock is usually on (at least the door lock). I'm anal about shutting down the first floor before I go to bed. I deadbolt the door and make sure all the windows are shut and locked.

The car is typically locked unless it's in my locked garage. If it's in my driveway, I may or may not leave it locked. Anywhere else, I tend to leave it locked.

4. You are going to bed and you go to charge your cell phone, but you see that the battery meter reads full on the display. Do you still plug it in to charge?

Yes.

5. If you live in an apartment-type setting, do you make a somewhat conscious effort to not slam cabinet doors, stomp around, run the dishwasher, etc late at night?

Well, when I did, I don't think I was very conscious about it.

6. When you were in college, did you pick up a school newspaper and then leave it strewn around the next classroom you landed in?

No. I was either a writer, Assistant News Editor, Editor-in-Chief, or Senior Editor. So the paper was sacred to me. Uh - until I went to Bentley. Then I left that rag lying anywhere.

7. Which do you do more often: eat fast food or eat at home?

Well, hockey season is over, so I eat at home more. But even during season, I didn't eat fast food - I ate Chili's (mostly), 9s, or Outback.

8. If something has both microwave and stovetop directions, which way do you typically make it?

Typically microwave. Except I won't microwave soup and probably some other things. So it depends, I guess.

9. Strictly speaking on soft tacos here, who is better, Taco Bell, Taco Inn, Taco John's, or someone else (preferably drive-thru fast food answers only)?

I've only heard of Taco Bell. And to that I say La Carretas.

10. Who has better hashbrowns: Village Inn or Perkins? What about IHOP or Waffle House?

Um. Denny's.

11. Do you like/mind to see movies that will presumably be sold out or would you rather just wait a few weeks or go on a weekday?

I used to really enjoy going to packed movies. I don't anymore - no need to rush to the theatre (although Firefly may change that for me). So ... weekday and maybe even a weekend matinee to make it cheaper.

12. Do you find humor in seeing frat boys leave a chair in between one another at the movies or do you yourself participate in this activity as well?

They do that? I'm more familiar with scratches doing this at games. And I think it's fucking hysterical.

13. Do you recycle? If so, more than just cans or newspapers? Does recycling day excite you as much as it does me?

I went to Brandeis. I was brainwashed. I won't even use the fucking styrofoam trays at work. I recycle any can, bottle, box, or paper that I can.

14. Now that high school is roughly 5 years or more behind the most of us that read my lj, do you have different feelings toward it that have changed recently? Looking back, did you enjoy high school?

5 years. Heh. Heh. Heh. Actually? I liked it when I was in it, and I like it now. It wasn't that bad, really. Junior High - that was the nightmare.

15. Do you have a fascination with Boston or New York? What about Venice or Paris or Vancouver?

I've lived in Boston and New York. No fascination there. My real fascination as of this moment is Calgary or, really, any part of Canada.

16. If you had to live on a coast, would you pick East or West and why?

East. Duh.

17. Did you ever want to be on Global Guts, Wild and Crazy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, or Carmen San Diego?

I think I'm too old for this.

18. Is Will Ferrell funny?

Not in anything I've ever seen him in. He was ok in that college one...

19. What is your favorite incense (or candle) scent?

Mmmm ... none.

20. Do you like scary movies?

If it's a good one, yeah. If it's dumb or gross, no.

21. How many days could you go without doing laundry and without re-wearing anything, and what would you run out of first that would cause you to have to finally wash clothes?

Probably about 2 weeks, and it would be after getting into the granny undies that I do laundry (or right before).

22. Do you use Tide?

Yes. My Mom does and I do.

23. Do you use bar soap or a fluffy poofy thingy with liquid body wash in the shower?

Bar soap. Typically Ivory, sometimes Karma if I'm in the mood.

24. Do you wash your hair every time you take a shower?

If it's the first shower of the day I do. (If I hop in the shower for another reason, like I just worked out at the end of the day or I did soemthing sweaty, typically I don't unless my hair got dirty).

25. And finally, Stones or Beatles?

Beatles. Is there any contest, really?

no need to rush to the theatre (although Firefly may change that for me).
Are you saying there's going to be a Firefly movie?
By the way, SciFi's airing that starting July 22. I'll watch all fifteen or whatever hours of it.

13. Do you recycle?

I went to Brandeis.

HA! Amen.
